As some of you may have read earlier, we were planning on heading down
to the Florida Keys, cross over to Cuba, and then onto the Yucatan.
However, after meeting numerous fellow sailors on the I.C.W., we were
finally convinced to pass through the Bahamas first before heading down
to Cuba. Furthermore, the weather wasn't warming up in Florida, so we had
another good reason to head to the Bahamas quickly. So here we are, and
here are our pictures.
Unlike in previous years whereby the Visa, Cruising and Fishing
permit
prices differed amongst the many ports of entry, this year the Tourism Office
set a flat fee of $100 for all three. The Visa is valid for 90 days or more,
depending at which port you enter. The Cruising permit is valid for 12
months and the fishing permit for 90 days. The Visa can easily be
extended at no cost by visiting any Immigration office . The fishing
permit
can easily be extended by an additional 90 days by visiting the Customs
office. A $20 dollar fee applies. Further information can be obtained by
writing to the Comptroller of Customs, P.O. Box 155, Nassau,
New Providence, Bahamas.
