We decided to use Spanish Cay as our entry point.
A day sail
from Great Sale Cay, we arrived before dusk anchoring out
north of the marina.
Spanish Cay is a private island and is managed by a Quebec
resident. As she explained to us, she was working on the 110'
yacht owned by the Spanish Cay owner as a chef. After many
years of exceptional service, she was asked to manage the
marina as well as the island.
The following morning, we called the
marina and scheduled to
meet the Immigration's Officer at
09:00h.
Unlike what we were told, there was no docking fee at
Spanish
Cay Marina to clear through Immigration and Customs. We
docked at the fuel dock to fill up on Diesel and Gas.
The Immigration's
Officer came to the fuel dock to great us and fill
out the necessary
paperwork which took no more than 1/2 hour.
After paying the $100 fee which included the 90 day Visa, 90
day
Fishing Permit and 12 month Cruising permit, all of which can
easily be extended by visiting the Immigration & Custom authorities.
A $20 fee applies to extend the fishing permit for an additional 90 days.
Once cleared through Immigration and Customs, the quarantine
flag
came down.
