The Dismal Swamp extends from Virginia to North Carolina.  It's very narrow, and the depth is not more than 6 feet.  Our 3'10" draft hit at least 2 submerged logs.  We knew one boat with a 6' draft that hit as many as 30 submerged logs.  This route is not recommended for the faint of heart.
