In August of 2010, we decided to explore the North Channel on Georgian Bay.  We trailered our 26' sailboat to Owen Sound, Georgian Bay and launched her using the public ramp.  We successfully launched our boat here in 2009.  Using the town of Wiarton as a base for meeting relatives, we drove and stored our truck & trailer at the Wiarton Marina for the remainder of the month.  We took a $40 cab back to the Owen Sound Marina.

The following day, we sailed to Big Bay and then into Wiarton.   We needed a new starter battery and the local battery stores being closed on Sundays, I drove back to Owen Sound and bought a new Nautilus  starter battery.  A 1 hour round trip had taken over 3 hours because of a serious multi-vehicle accident on highway #6, closing it for hours after 3 deaths had occurred.  Luckily, I took a chance a followed a car that seemed to know the area and took us through back roads to circumvent the highway.

We left Wiarton for Wingfield Basin near Cabot Head and visited the wreck, museum and light house.  The next day we motored sailed to Killarney having light winds.
